Santorini is one of the Cyclades islands located in the Aegean Sea. It was destroyed by a volcanic eruption in the 16th century BC, which forever shaped its rugged landscape. The white-walled, cube-shaped houses that distinguish the two main towns, Oia and Fira, are perched atop cliffs overlooking an underwater caldera (crater). From these cities the panorama extends over the sea, over the small islands found to the west and over the beaches made of black, red and white volcanic stone.

" The streets are narrow, but not only that. They seem to have been designed by someone who has had one too many drinks. There is no straight line in the whole of Santorini. Curves, hairpin bends, double bends, a labyrinth of streets. But ultimately they are also simple: a one road goes north and one goes south, impossible to get lost"
