The traveling exhibition Un Eco per tutti, promoted by the TempoLibero association and inaugurated in June 2016 at the Archaeological Museum of Naples, after some Italian stops, will open its doors on September 16, 2017 in Miami, at the main library of the American city. The event, promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute of Miami and the Dante Alighieri Society of Miami - who appreciated the Neapolitan project and wanted to welcome it - is part of the events promoted in conjunction with the famous contemporary art exhibition Art Basel Miami Beach which attracts contemporary art enthusiasts and collectors from all over the world to the United States of America every year. An opportunity for the participating artists, mostly from Campania, to show their work to a large audience. As part of Art Basel Miami Beach, an event will be promoted on December 7 to publicize the exhibition entrusted to Oscar A. Fuentes of the Downtown Miami Library.
The exhibition Un Eco per tutti born from an idea by Clorinda Irace and Tony Stefanucci will also be presented in Miami in the layout designed by Alexandra Abbate and curated by Oscar A. Fuentes. On display are 63 bookmark sketches, measuring 10x30 cm, inspired by the life and work of Umberto Eco and created by artists and writers.
With public and critical success, the exhibition was on display in: Naples (16 June – 29 August 2016) at the Archaeological Museum of Naples, Pescara (26 November 2016 – 07 January 2017) at the Vittoria Museum of Modern Art Colonna, Naples (01 February – 24 February 2017) at the Istituto Comprensivo Campo del Moricino and finally Agropoli (01 – 30 April 2017) at the Palazzo Civico delle Arti. For each stage other artists have been invited and for 2018 it is already a Roman edition has been planned.
Clorinda Irace, creator of the exhibition, states: “A cultural event starts from Naples and its creativity which, with different artistic languages, promotes not the commemoration but the re-presentation of Umberto Eco. All those involved loved Eco's texts and with this exhibition we hope to spread knowledge of them also among the new generations." On display are 63 artists and writers who have created a bookmark referring to Umberto's works, personality and studies Eco, in some cases artists and writers have worked together. With different techniques, various styles and a bold imagination, the authors worked in a small format (10x30 cm measure the sketches of the bookmarks on display) but with the skill and care that they would have dedicated to a large work. From sculpture to photography, from portrait to geometry, from figurative to abstract, from graphics to collage and poetic and literary notes, there are many suggestions offered by the works on display, all attributable to the work of Eco who with his work has marked strongly the short century
