On November 23, 2023, at 4:30 pm, at the National Library of Naples (Bibliography Room), the exhibition IoSono, by Pietro Loffredo and Nando Calabrese, opens. Speakers: Ilaria Perrelli, president of the Regional Council for the Status of Women,  Maria Iannotti director of the library, Linda Irace, curator of the exhibition, Mario Rovinello, publishing house La valle del tempo. Musical accompaniment by students of Liceo Palizzi coordinated by Chiara Mallozzi and Messina Sabrina.

The exhibition-appeal is the "cry of pain" that the two artists launch in the face of the violence suffered every day by women: women of every culture, ethnicity, social background, united by often similar stories. Ordinary women, like the faces on display, known or unknown. [photo1. the actress Antonella Stefanucci, patroness of the initiative].

The 12 works arise from the photographs of Nando Calabrese, which intersect with the pictorial mark of Pietro Loffredo, in a sort of superstitious magic that entrusts art with the defense of those female faces: at the center of the project by the two authors, who refine and strengthen their collaboration, stands that ioSono, I exist, which in all its strength manifests itself as individual, unrepeatable. On the occasion of the inauguration Pietro Loffredo and Nando Calabrese will perform live, with drawings and photographs that will involve the audience present, in a play of references to the propitiatory signs of the works and provocations to seek [in the absence of Institutions] in amulets and magic the tools to protect themselves from violence.

The exhibition promoted by the association “TempoLibero” is part of the initiatives of the Neapolitan Library to celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and will be open every day, from Monday to Thursday at 12 pm and 4 pm, Friday only at 12:00 until January 8, 2024. After Naples, the works will be exhibited in various Italian cities. The two authors, who have collaborated several times, have to their credit numerous solo and group exhibitions

Nando Calabrese

Pietro Loffredo

Much of his photographic experience has been gained in the world of art.

For years, he has been "telling the story" of contemporary art exhibitions held in Naples and its surroundings through his images, is the author of numerous art catalogues, and has exhibited in solo and group shows in Naples, Paris, Rome, and Miami.

Neapolitan, he has exhibited in Rome, Venice, Naples, Bastia, Monte Carlo, Paris, Berlin, Barcelona. His works have been exhibited at the Castel Sant'Angelo Museum in Rome, the Dar Bach Amba in Tunis, the Orestiadi Foundation in Gibellina, and the St. James Cavalier - Centre For Creativity in Valletta. His constant artistic research leads him to experiment with different techniques and to identify a distinctive stylistic mark in the choice of favored subjects (black angels, cornetti).

TheState Archives of Salerno

hosts the second stage of the exhibition ioSono by the painter Pietro Loffredo and the photographer Nando Calabrese

The State Archives of Salerno, as part of its outreach activities, starting from February 2024, is hosting a series of events and exhibitions aimed at focusing on the condition of women or paying tribute to prominent female figures.

The initiative “Immagine Donna”, which will unfold in several emblematic events, will kick off on February 17, 2024, at 11:30 a.m., at the headquarters in Largo Abate Conforti, 7, with the inauguration of the Exhibition IoSono, by the painter Pietro Loffredo and the photographer Nando Calabrese, in collaboration with the TempoLibero Association. Participating in the inaugural event will be the director of the Archive, Fortunata Manzi, both Artists, journalist Erminia Pellecchia, actress Antonella Stefanucci (godmother of the exhibition), opera singer Sabrina Messina (among the women photographed) – the curator, Clorinda Irace, Mario Rovinello, head of the publishing house La valle del tempo, and journalist Annamaria Barbato Ricci, former head of the Press Office of the National Equal Opportunities Commission at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. The exhibition-appeal is part of the Archive's overall project to focus on the condition of women and represents the “cry of pain” of two highly sensitive Artists, in the face of the violence suffered every day by women of every culture, ethnicity, and social background, united by stories often similar even in different places and contexts. Ordinary women, like the faces shown in the exhibition, known or unknown, in a painful and truthful representation by two “special” men. The 12 works intertwine the photographic shots of Nando Calabrese and the pictorial style of Pietro Loffredo, in a sort of magical ritual that entrusts art with the defense of those female faces: at the center of the Project by the two Authors, who thus refine and strengthen their collaboration, stands that ioSono, I exist, which in all its strength manifests itself as individual, unrepeatable. The traveling project began on November 25, 2023, at the National Library of Naples, arousing interest and success. On the occasion of the inauguration, Pietro Loffredo and Nando Calabrese will meet the public: it will be an opportunity to talk about women and issues related to female emancipation in all fields and the social and cultural resistance it encounters
